crack apple

Morning! Unless it's afternoon where you are, or evening, or even midnight. And if it is midnight, GET OFF THE INTERNET. If you're not careful you'll get to the weird corner of YouTube with videos of tortoises mating, or ten-hour-long versions of Nyan Cat, or paint drying on a hospital wall or something. And in case that argument wasn't compelling enough, here's some extra incentive.

Anyway, I (very productively) took some pictures of my outfit today while the light was still OK. Ish.

Old top; Primark cropped shirt, necklace made by me; bracelet given to me by a friend; vintage shoes with Barbie accessories stuck on by me.

How beautiful is this shirt? When I got it I was a bit skeptical about the colours because they look like acidic, brightly-coloured puke. I still do, but it's lush acidic, brightly-coloured puke. The colours remind me of the 1980s, and the shape reminds me of the early noughties. It reminds me of the colours from Meadham Kirchhoff's A/W 2012 collection:

In this case my shoes are legit vintage, but I can't quite place them. Possibly 60s? Right now I am really into acid-y, tropical colours and they're super bright and I love them. And yes, I am fully aware the little Barbie things don't match, but they're the right colours and I love the way they look. It's tempting to glue them on but I don't want to in case I want to make them into pins or something. The cherry on my necklace is also Barbie (yes I have a mild obsession and no I am not ashamed of it).

Also, how AMAZING is that fruit bracelet? It was given to me by a girl at my school ages ago - God, it must have been the start of Year Seven so nearly two years - but it's just PERFECT IN SO MANY WAYS. The blueberries look real, I swear. They're the right size and everything. I love it so hard and I just wish I had more.

Oh, hi, Etsy, you beautiful fruit-bracelet-filled paradise. I'm Ciara and I have a Visa card. Good to see you, old friend. Here, take all of my money in exchange for these beautiful things I'll never actually wear/use, I'll just put them on a shelf and admire them. Forever.

Oy vey.

ten really great reasons i haven't posted anything since my awkward sort-of welcome

Really Great Reason Number One: It's half term.
For some people, half term means LOLZ LET'S JUST SHOP EVERYDAY BECAUSE YOLO!!!
I'm not like them, I don't have a BlackBerry and that pretty much disqualifies you from doing anything "cool" in this city. (But "cool" is a very generic term used for underage clubbing and watching Zac Efron films.)

And no, I DON'T dress nicely every day. One day I roll out of bed and am struck by how comfortable my pyjamas feel so my outfit is pretty much just Day Pyjamas. Days when I do wear nice clothes, I forget entirely to take any pictures then at midnight I wake up feverishly after nightmares of angry non-followers coming to my door screaming for outfit posts.

OMG INTERNET WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?

Really Great Reason Number Two: Ditto. Only with the slight differentiation that we haven't gone anywhere this year because my Dad only got Monday and Tuesday off and my mum can't drive.

Don't judge us, we're suburban.

And don't judge me for making a wisecrack at suburban families. If you can't mock your own kind then what have you got left? Eton?

It's going to be tres rainy this weekend apparently so I'll get dressed properly and show you what I'm wearing, with the added pleasure of little details like my earrings and my shoes. By the way, if I call something "vintage", I've probably either forgotten where it's from or was given it by my mother.

We're still friends, right?

PS. The reason there's only two, um, reasons, is because they're all exactly the same except for 4 which would probably have been EVERY DAY I WANT TO CURL UP INTO A BALL AND DIE BECAUSE I LOOK TERRIBLE IN EVERYTHING EXCEPT BALACLAVAS.

I'm Ciara. I'm prone to sudden fits of low self esteem issues and the occasional pop culture reference. Let's hang out sometime.

new grrl

Happy summer! Isn't my timing great? I planned to start blogging on exactly the first day of summer and with typical Ciara-esque procrastination I didn't even manage that. I made Daisy Ghetto about two weeks before I even considered posting. The main reason I wanted to do this is because summer is my favourite season of the year, and every year I bottle up all these vibes and inspirations and I need to GET THEM OUT or I'll burst from all the pictures of flowers and mod girls and polka dots.

Welcome to le Ghetto. I'm only thirteen but (I'm told) I have the mind of a twenty-year-old so don't cower away from your keyboards in fear of toilet-related jokes. Great, I'm only on my first post and I've already mentioned toilets.

So, this blog is going to be a sort of outlet for all my VIBEZ, and a place to post everything that's going on in my life, everything that's inspiring me and my outfits, and somewhere I can share what I'm doing and wearing. As you do.
